Whether you're new to the world of fan dancing or an experienced showgirl whose fans are gathering dust, this class will instill in you the confidence and knowledge you need to fan dance fantastically onstage.
We'll start the class by revisiting basic fan handling techniques, from finding a comfortable grip to moving your fans around your body with grace and ease. We'll explore different types of fan movement and learn framing poses that help you use fans to showcase your performance.
We'll also address a performer's practical concerns: how to choreograph a fan dance that sparkles instead of snoozes, how to utilize fans in floorwork, and how to get your clothes off while your hands are full!
What to wear/bring: Bring your fans, and your questions! A limited amount of fans will also be available for students to borrow, and share

Art is political, and burlesque is no exception. As an artform with roots in mocking Euro-centric bourgeoisie ideals and the upper class, burlesque has always used glamour to poke fun and poke holes in our society.
The modern day artform has grown into a space occupied by people of every race, culture, gender expression, ability and body type you can imagine. All to showcase the importance of their existence within our society both on and off the stage. Through this panel, we will discuss the various ways many performers use their definition of glamour, resistance and inclusivity to show up, show out, and take off.
We invite you to come witness, see and be seen. Art is work, art is resistance. Glamour is resistance.
